Sweet little Archie was an absolute delight to have in the studio. He slept so well throughout the session and only woke right near the end when he let us know that he thought we had enough images. The softest smoothest skin, perfect features and the sweetest face *sigh*.

Sweet little Lamb {Brisbane Newborn Photographer}

Sweet little Hunter came into the studio just one week young. Although unsettled at first he eventually drifted off to sleep and was a delight to photograph. Many parents tell me when they come in that bubs is not happy without clothes on, but with the right set up and conditions in Studio they soon drift off to sleep which is when all the magic happens!

I'm not sure if it's just me but I'm noticing plenty of growing bellies around my local area lately! If you know of someone who is pregnant and would like Maternity or Newborn images please get them to contact me. Alternatively why not give them a Photography Gift Voucher as a Baby Shower or Arrival gift? These little angels grow far too quickly and it's always so sweet to look back on photos and remember how tiny and sweet they were.

Why family photography is worth the investment. {Brisbane Family Photographer}

One of my favourite things is watching children grow. You first meet them at a young age, you take in their tiny faces and wonder what they will look like when they grow up. When you do see them grow, you wonder why you thought they would change so much because they still look the same, it's still that same little face from years ago, yet different somehow.

I've seen this family grow from one child, to two and in the not too distant future three ;) More?? Maybe only time will tell although I'm told not!

We always think we'll remember how little they were, those sweet little features, that tiny nose but as time goes on we forget.....until we look back at photos and all the memories comes flooding back. I remember so much of my own childhood thanks only to my father for taking hundreds and hundreds of photographs that I looked year after year and remembered where we were, who we were with and what we were doing. If it wasn't for those photos those memories would not exist. Thanks Dad xx


I posted recently on feedback I receive from one family after their child had started treatment which caused their daughters hair to fall out. Within a few short weeks the images captured reminded them how their daughter used to look and by the time she is finished treatment she would have grown and continued to change yet again. Those photos are now more priceless because they can never be repeated.


When chatting with a friend in the last week I pulled out some photos I had a well known photographer take of my own family around 3 years ago. At the time when we were told of the pricing for the images we (especially my husband!) balked at the cost. We couldn't justify spending that sort of money on photos. When I pulled out those photos to show a friend last week (yes I convinced Hubby to get them) it was not the money spent that I first thought of. I was immediately taken back to how little my boys were, how round their little faces were and how I was so thankful I have those images to help me remember.....

Sometimes we don't realise how lucky we are.... {Brisbane Family Photographer}

We all know of life tends to get the better of us most days. We are all 'too busy' we all have 'too little money', 'too little time' etc etc...familiar tune? We complain about how little we have, how much we want, how it would only be easier if....... And yes, to some extend that is true for the majority of us, life would be easier if we didn't have to stress about paying the bills or splurging on a treat for the kids. Sometimes though it's nice to get a kick up the pants and reminded about how lucky we actually are and how much we actually have - it's that word perspective that indeed puts you back in your place.


At my son's school Market Night earlier this year I had a stall displaying my images to promote my portrait sessions. I donated a prize to be drawn during the night for a photography session to the value of $590. When this particular family won, it just felt right. For one, they had entered numerous tickets into my raffle with all fingers crossed and secondly comments from their friends upon hearing they won indicated they were a well deserving family. And yes, they were. While planning their session I found out that one of their daughters has a serious medical condition and was about to start treatment. The timing of these images were very important as she would not look the same during and after the treatment. They were wanting to capture themselves as they were right then in that moment of time. Even by the time they received their images post session they commented that they hadn't realised how much their daughter had changed in such a small space of time due to her treatment.
 
Our health is something I truly believe we all take for granted (myself included). Days goes by and we put things off till later, we are always looking to the future until something shocks us into realising how important 'right now' actually is.

It's nice to know that 'luck' actually does fall on people who deserve it.  This particular family is often in my thoughts and prayers hoping that their daughter comes out of treatment with a positive result xxx

I am WAY behind in my blogging! Sorry, it always seems the more behind I get the harder it is to find the time to even attempt to get up to date. But on this rainy Brisbane day (at the time of typing) I've found some time! It always comes down to the little things.....

The big things that happen in our life create a big impact don't they? Change of house, career, new routines in life, children...... all of these things are BIG changes and we all know that they have an impact on our day to day life. 

How often though, do we acknowledge the little things? The difference the little things make on both our lives and the lives of others. I've recently received an email from a client that has reminded me of both the big and the little things. The big event in their life was their 20mth old daughter commencing Chemotherapy treatment for a brain tumor this year. Hard to comprehend unless you've experienced it. They had a photography session with me recently and as part of their package (which they didn't know) I included a little photo book with 8 images from their session. It is my gift from me to my clients to say thank you. Thank you for booking me. Thank you for taking the time to allow me to photograph their life. It was was lovely this week when this particular client emailed me to thank me for the photo book and mentioned how perfect it was for them to take to the hospital when their daughter was going through treatment so she could have the photos of those nearest and dearest close to her while something not so pleasant was happening. 

So to that client of mine, thank YOU for reminding me it's the little things. The little things that can sometimes turn out to mean bigger things to other people.....

A Saturday morning Wedding {Brisbane Wedding Photographer}

I love weddings, families and friends getting together to celebrate a beautiful union. Yes Weddings can be stressful however this one was different! This couple held a relaxed wedding in a local park with their nearest and dearest with them on a Saturday morning. It was one of the most easy going events I have ever attended let alone a wedding! After a brief official ceremony and a few drinks to celebrate the bride and groom along with theirs guests had a few hours to themselves before reconvening at another venue for a Mad Hatters Tea Party themed reception! It's a reminder that weddings should not about the 'event' rather than celebrating togetherness and having some fun with those that matter most.

How much cuter can you get? {Brisbane Family Photographer}

On a beautiful afternoon I was lucky enough to photograph this beautiful family. Now beauty as they say is only skin deep and I personally truly believe that beauty comes from within. When I'm taking photos of families who have beautiful souls it shows in their images. These are the sessions we live for as a photographers, the sessions where you walk away and just know you have amazing images on your camera and you just can't wait to upload them and start sorting through them. These are the images that you find yourself smiling while editing - it's a fabulous feeling and something that keeps us (well me at least) going back for more. 

You might remember little Miss M below if you follow my Facebook page when I links to a blog "How to make a baby smile"  about the surprise I found in her eyes while editing an image. 

When I arrived home from the session below my husband asked "How did it go" and I reply "Great...." :) He looked at me surprised as I'm usually quite reserved in my judgement until I sort and edit my images but I just knew I had some crackers after this one. Dan manages the Go Kart Centre at Eagle Farm which is a load of fun and Leisa is an amazing Naturopath whom I'll forever be grateful towards after she got my body back on track after a very bad time in July this year. I had lost 8kgs in two weeks and wasn't able to eat anything without being in extreme pain. My GP was simply trying to put a bandaid on the problem and not looking for a solution so after weeks of frustration (and pain) I was recommended to Leisa and remarkably feeling so much better in just a few days. So apart from just simply being a beautiful person she knows how to get people healthy from the inside out! Thanks again Leisa and Dan, looking forward to photographing you again in the future when Miss M (with the super chubbiest cheeks) is a bit older!

Pine needle pranks.... {Brisbane Family Photographer}

I had a lovely afternoon recently with this family who had been a long time between family photos. I guess we always seem to put off those little things and just add them to the 'one day' pile, one day, when I loose weight or one day, when they kids can sit still longer....sound familiar? It's a shame really as our families change month by month, both in looks and personalities. No one has ever looked back on photos and thought, gee I wish I didn't capture that moment in time..... Hey you might question your fashion choices at the time but such is life! ;)

This family was great fun and loads of giggles and laughs. One of the reason being that they kept sneaking pine needle pricks into each other during the shoot.....

Note the hand on the left Sisters shoulder.....and the resulting facial expression on the right! I love watching the dynamics between siblings :)

As a Mum myself I know all too well that images of Mums and their kids together are in short supply. Usually it is us behind the camera taking pictures but we never seem to get in them ourselves! Newborn Delights {Brisbane Newborn Photographer}

Yes it's been far too long since I've posted anything on here. To be honest I'm still trying to get back into a routine following my USA trip, Easter and School Holidays!

For now I just wanted to pop a sweet photo of a little newborn shoot I did just a few days before I headed overseas. Newborn's would be my favourite subjects by far to photograph - hands down. They are just so sweet, so little, so bendy, so gooshy....I could go on :)

The big 5 - 0 {Brisbane Event Photographer}

I am a little (a lot!) behind in blogging at the moment - for a good reason - I'm flat out! So in the mad chaotic world that is mine at the moment I have finally found some time to sit down and blog the event below. 

Just over a month ago now I captured George's (Georgio to his friends) 50th Birthday Party. In a lovely home surrounded by friends and family, George celebrated and reminisced over the past years. It's so nice to see a group of friends who have gone through school together still joking around like it was yesterday. It was wonderful to meet you all and I trust you had a fabulous night!

Little girls have a magic all to their own {Brisbane Child Photographer}

As a mother of two boys, little girls are a novelty for me. I've grown used to the rough and tumble of boys, the ingrained interest in jumping off things, karate fighting moves and air guitar sessions......Girls on the other hand are still just as energetic but they have an ingrained love of clothes, hair accessories, lip gloss and just looking too darn cute! 

I photographed Amelia (her parents affectionately call her Amie) the day before her 5th Birthday. Amelia's parents have had her photographed every year for her birthday and the images are becoming a wonderful collage on their wall along with a daily reminder of how quickly children grow, change and develop their own unique personalities. 

That's what I have always loved about photographs, they capture that moment in time forever and are a constant reminder of how quickly life and the years can zoom past.

When family comes together {Brisbane Family Photographer}

This is the third time I have photographed little Angus and the second time that the session has included his parents Jason and Meighan who are dear friends of mine. When Jason's daughter Brodie was visiting from NZ over Christmas they asked if I could update their family photos. Brodie is one of the sweetest girls I know and stunning to say the least! Little Angus is due to turn 1 (on Friday!) and anyone who has had children would know 12 months is an age where sitting still for photos becomes quite low on the priority list, especially when the family dog keeps running in and out of shot or you are expected to sit at the bottom of a staircase when all you want to do is climb up it! I love watching families grow,  I love seeing a family all together at once and I LOVE capturing it on camera xx

Phew! How quickly did Christmas fly by this year? I trust you all have a wonderful festive season surrounded by your nearest and dearest! I would like to wish everyone all the very best for 2012, it is looking to be a big year.

I have finally find time to blog my last family portrait session for 2011. This session had me on my toes right from the start! Little Connor was full of beans and once we got past the inital 'shy' stage he was running all over the house and yard showing me every nook and cranny of their garden. Both Connor and his big sister Siobhan have the most stunning blue eyes and sweet personalities to boot. Thank you for opening up your home to me, it was such a pleasure to meet this beautiful family.

When character shines through.

I mentioned in an early post how much fun this particular session was. Theo is around the same age as one of my own boys and so full of life and fun. He was climbing up wall, trees, surfing on logs and you would have seen in the blog post recently how many different faces you can get out of him in a very short space of time! Theo's Mum just glows in front of the camera - I simply couldn't understand why she was as anxious as she was about having photos taken but there was no reason at all to worry. It was lovely to see the special connection between Mother and Son.

Pure joy {Brisbane Family Photographer}

Pure joy is what I see in this Mum's face whenever she looks at her daughter. It's beautiful. I love seeing (and photographing) the joy and adoration between parents and their children - it's always something special.

I first met Kristy and Dan earlier this year when Kristy booked me to photograph her friends 30th. It was such a fun night and I was so pleased when she contacted me about taking some family portraits. Poor little Lara broke out in a nasty rash the day prior to our session however with a little TLC in Photoshop the rash is barely noticeable in the resulting images. Oh and I had to include the last shot, it just cracks me up every time I look at it! Lara had apparently just learnt to frown so I was lucky enough to catch a few adorable frowns on camera ;)

I had so much fun at this recent session. Considering it was booked as a 30min Mini Session you can tell how much fun we were having when I was still clicking away an hour later! More on the actual session with Theo and his beautiful Mum later, for now I just wanted to share a (small) collection of the many faces of Theo that I was treated to during our afternoon together.
